The Swami was a criminal who hypnotized wealthy dowagers into revealing where they kept their valuables and then robbed them. He had dark hair and a beard. He typically wore a turban.
Upon learning that he had only a short period of time left to live, the Swami ambushed Sam Catchem, then hypnotized him and forced him to sit in a chair connected to a time bomb.
The Swami then threatened to activate the bomb unless Dick Tracy left him alone, but Tracy was able to rescue both Sam and the Swami's servant. The Swami was then killed in the explosion.
