Dick Tracy Wiki

The man called "Slim" was a member of a large criminal organization in the City By The Lake. He was slender, with blond hair and a long nose.

Slim was one of a several criminals who were hiding out in a heavily-fortified building during Dick Tracy's attempt to dismantle organized crime in the City By The Lake. When Tracy demolished the building, Slim was allowed to escape in the hopes that he would lead the police to other members of the criminal underworld.

  • Slim appears in issue #2 of IDW's Dick Tracy: Dead or Alive comic book miniseries. He has not appeared in the daily newspaper comic strip.
  • Slim makes references to two other criminals that Tracy has apprehended- Big Jim and Leroy Brown. These are both characters from songs by the singer-songwriter Jim Croce. Big Jim is from the song "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" and Leroy Brown is from "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" (which is set in Chicago).
  • In a tweet, writer Lee Allred stated that Slim's real name is William McCoy, which was the name of another character in the song "You Don't Mess Around With Jim"[1].
  • There is no known connection between Slim and Influence's henchman of the same name.
