Shelley Pleger was the primary artist on the Dick Tracy comic strip from 2021 to 2024. She also occasionally assisted with dialogue. She had previously been an art assistant who inked and lettered the strip. Shelley joined the strip's creative team in 2011 along with Mike Curtis, Joe Staton, and Shane Fisher.
In April 2017, Ms. Pleger temporarily replaced Joe Staton (who had other commitments that required his attention) as the penciler of daily and Sunday strips. Ms. Pleger became the first woman to be the main artist on the Dick Tracy strip. When Joe Staton retired from the strip in 2021, Shelley Pleger succeeded him as the main artist.
Shelley held the position of primary artist for three years, after which she was succeeded by Charles Ettinger.
