Dick Tracy Wiki

Packard Patton was one of two grown nephews of Chief Pat Patton. He and his brother Peter were taken in by their uncle following the death of their parents, in spite of the fact that both young men were over 18 years old.

Pack was the more aggressive of the two young men. He had light-colored hair (and occasionally wore a sparse moustache), and enjoyed video games.

Who Shot Pat Patton?[]

Packard Patton ("Pack" for short) came to live with his uncle Pat after his parents died suddenly. He was an ill-mannered young man and had a generally sloppy appearance. He and his brother became a nuisance to his uncle's new wife Toby Townley.

When Chief Patton went missing, Pack was not in a position to aid with the investigation. Pack and Pete had not been considered serious suspects in Patton's disappearance. Chief Patton was later found alive and he returned to live with his wife and nephews.

The New Crimestoppers[]

Pack and his brother began to frequent a local video game arcade. There, they ran afoul of Honeymoon Tracy and the newly re-formed Crimestoppers Club. The Crimestoppers became suspicious of the brothers when the two men bullied the kids, and were later shown giving what appeared to be a bribe or a payoff to the arcade manager.

The Crimestoppers' observation eventually linked Pack and Pete to a local car theft ring operated by Mr. & Mrs. Rockwell under the direction of Lofty. The two young men were arrested and taken to jail. Packard loudly objected, claiming that his uncle would arrange their release.

Chief Patton visited Pack and Pete in jail and informed them that he would not have them released, as the charges against them were legitimate. Chief Patton agreed to pay for their legal defense, as he felt that he had failed them as an guardian and an influence. The two brothers would face multiple charges as adults.

Rikki's Plot[]

Years later, Packard was contacted in prison by the killer-for-hire Rikki Mortis, who was planning to kill Pat Patton. Packard, who was bitter about his uncle not keeping him out of jail, agreed to help her. Pack contacted Pat, claiming to need protection money. Pack then gave Pat a location to deliver the money, where Pat was ambushed by Rikki.

Pat survived the encounter and Rikki was captured. It was not made clear if Pack would face charges for conspiracy or as an accessory to attempted murder.
