Jarvis was one of several butlers, valets, and menservants who worked for Diet Smith. He was bald, with short dark hair hair on the side of his head, and slightly heavyset.
Jarvis' tasks included preparing Smith's meals, arranging his transportation, and coordinating much of his correspondence.

- Jarvis was also the name of the butler to the murdered H.K. Krispies, but they do not seem to be the same person.
- Jarvis is also the name of the butler of the Marvel Comics superhero team The Avengers.
