Buddy Waldorf was the son of the wealthy financier John H. Waldorf.
The Kidnapping[]
When he was two years old, Buddy Waldorf was kidnapped from his home and transported to the cruise liner Alonia by agents of the criminal Big Boy. Despite the kidnapping, Buddy seemed oblivious to any danger.
The kidnapping plot - which caused a nationwide sensation - was thwarted by Dick Tracy, who captured Big Boy and escorted Buddy back to his doting parents.

- Buddy's natural hair color was said to be black, but the kidnappers dyed it blond to make the boy less easy to identify.
- The Buddy Waldorf kidnapping storyline was inspired by the real-life kidnapping of the son of the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh.
