Appero (full name unrevealed) was an unscrupulous wig maker in Dick Tracy's city. He had thick dark hair and a moustache. He typically wore dark glasses and smoked cigarettes.
Appero provided wigs for the criminal The Painted Lady. Intro would notify her minions The Hair Bandits when a woman with desirable hair was spotted in her nightclub. The Hair Bandits would then harvest the woman's hair and deliver it to Appero, who would make it into a wig. He used the company name Knob Upholstering Co. as a front.
The Hair Bandits were eventually arrested and the Painted Lady was killed by her boyfriend. It is unclear if Appero was ever charged for his involvement with the scheme.
